Another Week, Another Custom Trellis Design

May 29, 2009

DSCF0024It’s been a heck of a week. I’m pretty happy with the progress thus far, including the job pictured above. The trellises are my design concept, built by the homeowner. I think they do a really nice job of filling up what was previously a blank, ugly expanse of siding. The original plan was to have the trellises built of cedar, to be left natural. To save costs, the homeowner used pressure treated lumber. Painting them black was his idea, which, I must admit, worked out great.

Nice concept…I’m personally a little tired of the latticed panel.
Very clean and contemporary, the black color compliments the design. Great job!

Thanks for the kind words! I’m developing a line of trellis panels in the same vein, because I have such a hard time finding stock pieces I want to use.

Gorgeous work on your site, btw!

Very interesting and different!! Great job.

Did you use pressure treated and was it cured? Just curious.

It was pressure-treated lumber. I usually recommend letting p/t lumber dry out for a few months before painting, but obviously that didn’t happen.
