Mark Your Calendars!

August 21, 2008

A couple of things worth noting:

Paul Tukey will be giving a FREE talk at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.’s headquarters on Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 pm. Paul who, you ask? Paul Tukey wrote The Organic Lawn Care Manual, publishes People, Places and Plants magazine, and is the founder of SafeLawns.org. He’s a great advocate for, and expert on, maintaining a healthy lawn through organic practices. If you live in Culpeper, the local library has a copy of his book. It’s a little dry at times, but there is a wealth of information in it. And definitely, check out his talk. There’s more information on it here.

Second, if you live in the Town of Culpeper, there are two meetings about the Comprehensive Plan: Monday, September 8th at 6 pm, and Tuesday, September 9th at 10 am. Why bother? They’re looking to shape development and land use for the next 20 years. This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard. Don’t be shy. MJ and I participated in the visioning study, and it was exciting to see that our input was heard in the results of the study. We can’t effect change without trying. Both meetings are at the Depot, by the way, and refreshments and food will be served. It’s a win-win!
