Watering Wisely
I’ve been working in this industry so long, I sometimes take things for granted. My next door neighbors had no idea what I was putting around my new trees, so if you don’t know either: they’re called Treegators and they’re great. You zip a couple around the trunk of a newly planted tree and fill them on the appropriate schedule. The bags have dozens of small holes in the bottom and deposit water directly into the root mass over an extended period of time. You have less evaporation than if you leave a hose trickling next to the tree, and you’re less likely to forget to shut off the hose before you go to bed.
If last summer was any indication, we need to pay attention to water conservation. These are a great way to water and still be efficient- with water and your time.
